Role Summary:

  • An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Equipment Specialist at our client’s biopharmaceutical facility in Co. Waterford.
  • The purpose of the role is to provide equipment and instrument support for 2 large laboratories, Chemistry and Micro Labs while also aiding the auxiliary equipment/ utilities associated.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Equipment Specialist for both labs including responsibility for the following areas:
  • Equipment Vendor Management
    • Defining equipment needs with end users and contacting the required bodies to commission or validate.
    • Engaging with end users and vendors to oversee routine validation.
    • Engaging with site engineering and maintenance teams to carry out annual/ bi-annual/ other routine preventative maintenance, calibrations, troubleshooting, etc.
  • Understanding of equipment introduction documentation lifecycle (CQV)
    • Role is not the C&Q engineer but there will be co-ordination of this effort in preparation for and execution of site works and working with other site teams to meet the required qualification status.
  • General management of:
    • Change Controls, Deviations and associated CAPAs
    • LIMS
    • Third-party vendors
    • Equipment qualification
  • General co-ordination re safety, budget, schedule, scope for the laboratory equipment
    • Detailed planning for equipment procurement/relocation (some items are existing and need to be transitioned to the new labs), utility connection, vendor attendance, C&Q documentation

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Engineering discipline like Chemical/Process Engineering or related Qualification
  • Minimum 4-5 years’ experience of Lab environment and/or CQV with relevant experience in Equipment specification / procurement preferably in a pharmaceutical environment.
  • C&Q experience, understanding of the documentation lifecycle for qualified equipment
  • Having worked with or for a multi-disciplinary design team, with a good understanding of the various design needs for the lab equipment.
  • Experience with both GLP and GMP environments.
  • Laboratory equipment / Drug Product experience would be a benefit
  • Desirable to have experience with PEMAC, MAXIMO or similar maintenance platforms.
